| Radiation | The transfer of energy by electromagnetic waves. |
| Heat of Vaporization | The amount of heat energy needed to change a liquid into a gas. |
| Heat of Fusion | The amount of heat needed to change a substance from a solid to a liquid. |
| Temperature | A measure of the average energy of motion of the particles of a substance. |
| Heat | Thermal energy that is transferred from matter at a higher temperature to matter at a lower temperature |
| Absolute Zero | The temperature at which no more energy can be removed from matter. |
| Thermal Expansion | The expansion of matter when it is heated. |
| Evaporation | The process that occurs when vaporization takes place only on the surface of a liquid. |
