Parts of Plot

Parts of a Story (PLOT)

TermDefinition
Point of View Who is telling the story. (Use the pronouns in the story for clues) 1st person "I", 3rd person "he/she")
Exposition The beginning of the story that introduces the characters and the setting,
Setting When and where the story takes place.
Conflict The main problem or struggle faced by the characters.
Rising Action The series of events that build tension and increase the main problem.
Climax The most exciting moment of the story.
Falling Action The events after the climax that begin to solve the main problem.
Resolution The ending where the main conflict is fully resolved.
*Theme The life lesson, big idea, or moral of a story.
