| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Babinski stimulus | Stroking an inverted J on lateral aspect of sole of foot |
| Babinski response | Extension of big toe with fanning of four small toes |
| Babinski description | Reflex characterized by extension of big toe and fanning of toes elicited by stroking lateral sole in inverted J pattern |
| Chaddock stimulus | Stroking lateral side of foot beneath lateral malleolus |
| Chaddock response | Extension of big toe with fanning of toes (same as Babinski response) |
| Chaddock description | Pathologic plantar reflex elicited by stimulation near lateral malleolus producing Babinski-like response |
| Oppenheim stimulus | Stroking anteromedial tibial surface |
| Oppenheim response | Extension of big toe with fanning of toes (Babinski-like response) |
| Oppenheim description | Pathologic reflex elicited by stroking anteromedial tibial surface producing Babinski-like response |

| Piotrowski response | Dorsiflexion and supination of foot |
| Piotrowski description | Pathologic reflex involving tibialis anterior percussion causing dorsiflexion and supination of foot |
| Brudzinski stimulus | Passive flexion of one lower limb |
| Brudzinski response | Similar movement occurs in opposite limb |
| Brudzinski description | Reflex where passive flexion of one lower limb causes similar movement in opposite limb |
| Hoffman stimulus | Flicking terminal phalanx of index, middle, or ring finger |
| Hoffman response | Reflex flexion of distal phalanx of thumb and distal phalanx of index or middle finger not flicked |
| Hoffman description | Pathologic upper limb reflex elicited by flicking fingertip causing flexion response in thumb and fingers |

| Stransky stimulus | Vigorous abduction followed by sudden release of fifth toe |
| Stransky response | Dorsiflexion of big toe |
| Stransky description | Pathologic reflex elicited by abduction and release of fifth toe causing dorsiflexion of big toe |
| Patellar clonus stimulus | Rapidly pushing patella toward toes |
| Patellar clonus response | Sustained rhythmic contraction of quadriceps |
| Patellar clonus description | Pathologic reflex involving patellar stimulation causing sustained rhythmic quadriceps contraction |
