flow of energy the path that energy takes through an ecosystem, moving from the sun to producers and then to consumers.
food chain a single, straight path showing how energy moves from one living thing to another.
transfer of energy the passing of energy from one object or organism to another.
community all the different populations of living things that live and interact together in an area.
photosynthesis the process plants use to turn sunlight, water, and air into food energy.
population a group of individuals belonging to the exact same species living in the same area.
predator an animal that hunts, catches, and eats other animals to survive.
prey an animal that is hunted and eaten by a predator.
environment all the living and nonliving things that surround an organism.
