Rock Cycle

QuestionAnswer
cementation the process where minerals glue bits of sediment together to form rock.
compaction the process where layers of sediment are squeezed tightly together by heavy weight.
minerals natural, solid materials found in the earth that make up rocks.
sedimentary rock a type of rock made from layers of squeezed and glued sediment over a long time.
solidification the process of a liquid cooling down and turning into a solid, like hardening lava.
deposition the dropping or leaving behind of rock bits and soil by wind, water, or ice.
erosion the movement of rock pieces and soil from one place to another by water, wind, or ice.
sediment small pieces of rock, sand, and soil that have been broken down.
weathering the slow breaking down of rocks into smaller pieces by wind, water, or ice.
