antipruritic drug that relieves itching
antiseptic agent that inhibits the growth of microorganisms
astringent drug that shrinks the blood vessels locally, dries up secretions from weepy lesions, and lessens skin sensitivity
comedo blackhead
contact dermatitis reaction to an irritating substance that has touched the skin
corticosteroids drugs used on the skin because they suppress inflammation, tighten blood vessels, and relieve itching
dermatitis inflammation of the skin causing redness, irritation, and skin lesions; also known as eczema
disinfectant chemical capable of killing bacteria; used in the sterilization process
ecchymosis discoloration of the skin or bruising caused by leakage of blood into the subcutaneous tissue
eczema dermatitis
erythema reddening of the skin caused by dilation of superficial capillaries
keratolytic drug that loosens and facilitates the shedding of the outer layer of skin
keratosis overgrowth and thickening of keratin in the skin
macerate soften a solid, such as the skin, by moistening, causing increased absorption through the skin
miticides drugs that kill parasites on the skin
occlusive dressing dressing that seals in drugs, body heat, and moisture
pediculicide drug that kills lice
pediculosis infection caused by lice
petechiae tiny, purplish-red spots on the skin resulting from small hemorrhages
photodermatitis irritation caused by skin sensitivity to light
protective soothing, cooling preparation that forms a film on the skin
pruritus itching
scabicide drug that kills mites
scabies infestation caused by mites
seborrheic dermatitis inflammatory irritation of the scalp, face, or groin, producing greasy scales
transdermal patch patch containing medication that is absorbed continually through the skin and acts systemically
vasoconstrictive/venous insufficiency treatment drugs drugs that tighten blood vessels in an area of inflammation and reduce swelling
