Affect of Forces of Motion and Energy affecting Motion

Force is Push or pull of an object changing its motion
Requires a large force to move it Bowling ball
Gravity Force pulling two objects toward one another or the center of the earth
On earth gravity pulls you into which direction Center of the earth
Inertia An object staying in motion or at rest
A toy car in front of you with no movement is Inertia
Friction Rubbing against each other, and it slowing down things in motion
A ball slowing down the grass is caused by Friction
Two results force can have on motion is Can cause objects start moving, speed up, slow down or change directions
A ball continuing to move without stopping Does not have friction
A roller coaster is being pushed down because of Gravity
Energy Ability to do work
Potential Energy Energy an object has because of its position
When you are at the top of a slide waiting to come down you have what type of energy Potential Energy
When you kick a ball, you give it Kinetic Energy
A bicycle moving when you pedal it is Mechanical Energy
Kinetic Energy Energy of motion
Mechanical Energy Energy it has because it can move or of its motion
A toy using a battery is powered by Chemical Energy
An object can have two types of energy such as Potential and Kinetic Energy
Energy stored in a battery Chemical Energy
Three forms of energy are Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical
