archetype Part of Speech: noun Definition: a universal, recurring symbol, character type, setting, or plot pattern in literature that evokes a deep, instinctive response across cultures and time periods Sentence: Harry Potter is the archetype of the chosen one.
era Part of Speech: noun Definition: a distinct span of time in history defined by shared intellectual, artistic, cultural, or social characteristics in literature Sentence: We're just now entering an era of great prosperity.
movement Part of Speech: noun Definition: a collective trend in literature where a group of authors, often within a specific timeframe or location, share common philosophies, artistic styles, themes, or goals Sentence: The camera caught every movement.
historical account Part of Speech: noun Definition: a narrative or record documenting past events, often focusing on accuracy, evidence, and chronological order Sentence: The historian wrote a detailed historical account of the war.
position Part of Speech: noun Definition: an author's stance or relationship to the topic and audience Sentence: Please return your seat to an upright position.
coherent Part of Speech: adjective Definition: a logically organized piece of writing where ideas, sentences, and paragraphs connect clearly to create an easily understood whole Sentence: She could not formulate a coherent sentence after waking up.
focus Part of Speech: noun Definition: the central controlling idea, theme, or topic that anchors a text, ensuring coherence by directing the audience’s attention to essential details Sentence: The main focus of the meeting is the budget.
connotation Part of Speech: noun Definition: the emotional, cultural, or associative meanings attached to a word beyond its literal definition Sentence: The word "home" carries a warm, cozy connotation.
curate Part of Speech: verb Definition: to select, organize, and present content, items, or artistic works, often using expert knowledge to provide context or a specific theme Sentence: She will curate a new art exhibit for the local gallery.
text feature Part of Speech: noun Definition: A component of a text that helps readers locate, understand, and organize information, particularly in non-fiction. For example, indexes, page numbers, headings, illustrations, and captions. Sentence: Text features help.
Latin prefix co- Definition of "co-": together Word that uses co-: cooperate Definition of cooperate: to work together with others, act in compliance, or assist toward a common goal or purpose Sentence using cooperate: Please cooperate with the new safety rules.
Greek prefix arch- Definition of "arch-": ruler Word that uses arch-: architecture Definition of cooperate: the art and science of designing and constructing buildings. Sentence using architecture: The architecture of the building is modern.
