Atlantic Ocean -Connects the Americas to Europe and Africa - Major, busy trade route for ships
Gulf of Mexico -borders the U.S, Mexico and Cuba - huge source of oil and natural gas
Caribbean Sea - over 7,000 islands - Columbus sailed there in 1492
Five Great Lakes - The world's largest fresh water system (Huron,Erie,Ontario,Michigan,Superior)
Ohio River - begins in Pennsylvania and joins the Mississippi -u.s gained control when they defeated the British in the Revolution
Missouri River begins in Rocky Mountains of Montana, meets Mississippi !803, France sold to U.S in Louisiana Purchase
Mississippi River Begins in Minnesota and flows to Gulf of Mexico one of the busiest commercial water ways
Rocky Mountains Begins in Canada and ends in New Mexico glaciers carved out sharp peaks and deep valleys
Appalachian Mountains stretch from Canada to Alabama rich in natural resources, especially coal
