| third person limited | a pov where an outside narrator uses "he", "she", or "they". limited to a single character. |
| third person omniscient | same as limited but narrator is all-knowing. knows all character's thoughts, feelings, etc. |
| phrase | a small group of words that act as a single unit within a sentence. |
| central theme | main idea, underlying message, lesson of a story. |
| central idea | the primary message or big picture of a story or text. |
| revision/revised | amending, altering, or updating something written. to correct it. |
| formal vs informal tone | formal is precise, standar grammar for more academic texts. informal is casual, conversational, and oftentimes uses slang and contractions. |
| objective summary | a concise and NEUTRAL overview of a text. |
| conclusion | the end or finish of a text; ties it all up. |
| claim or counterclaim | claim is an arguable statement |
