Managerial Planning

TermDefinition
Contingency Plans Alternative courses of action to be implemented if the original plan proves inadequate due to changing circumstances.
Goal A desired future state that the organization attempts to realize.
Mission Statement What the organization stands for and why it exists.
Objective End result desired by the organization, derived from the organization's mission statement.
Operational Plan One that a manager uses to accomplish his or her job responsibilities.
Plan A blueprint for goal achievement that specifies necessary resource allocations, schedules, and tasks.
Strategic Plans Outline of steps designed with the goals of the entire organization in mind.
Tactical Plan Concerned with what the lower level units within each division must do, how they must do it, and who is in charge.
Tactile plans Middle-level administrators work to take broad goals and make them more specific to their unit(s).
