Managerial Planning
| Term | Definition |

| Contingency Plans | Alternative courses of action to be implemented if the original plan proves inadequate due to changing circumstances. |
| Goal | A desired future state that the organization attempts to realize. |
| Mission Statement | What the organization stands for and why it exists. |
| Objective | End result desired by the organization, derived from the organization's mission statement. |
| Operational Plan | One that a manager uses to accomplish his or her job responsibilities. |
| Plan | A blueprint for goal achievement that specifies necessary resource allocations, schedules, and tasks. |
| Strategic Plans | Outline of steps designed with the goals of the entire organization in mind. |
| Tactical Plan | Concerned with what the lower level units within each division must do, how they must do it, and who is in charge. |
| Tactile plans | Middle-level administrators work to take broad goals and make them more specific to their unit(s). |
