Precise Adj. Exact and detailed Example: His answers were very precise.
Credibility N. The quality of being trustworthy Example: The source had credibility
Relevant Adj. Pertaining to or applicable to a topic; germane Example: His evidence was relevant to the topic.
Bias N. General Tendency or leading in one direction Example: The teacher had a lot of bias, because the student was her son.
Counterclaim N. An opposing claim that disagrees with the thesis Example: His counterclaim to the argument was very good.
Rebuttal N. Response to the counterclaim and supports the claim. Example: Even though the counterclaim was good, the rebuttal towards it was better.
Purpose N. Intent or aim Example: The purpose of the essay was to persuade the principal.
Audience N. The person/people for whom a text is written Example: He wanted the audience to understand the theme of the text.
Expository techniques N. The elements an author uses that focus on the central idea Example: The expository techniques connected the story.
Narrative techniques N. Elements an author uses to tell a story including description, dialogue, pacing, & reflection. Example: The narrative techniques in the book were really good.
Citation N. Brief reference within the text that provides readers with the source of the information Example: He used the citations correctly.
Latin prefix in- Word: Initiate Definition: Go into Example: He initiated the plan
Latin root -credere- Word: Incredible Definition: Impossible to believe; extraordinary
Decipher V. Succeed in interpreting or understanding something Example: He deciphered the very hard code.
Invincible Adj. Impossible to defeat Example: He was invincible to the traps
Contraption N. Machine that seems strange or unnecessarily complicated Example: He made a very interesting contraption
Newfangled Adj. Invented only recently and, therefore, strange-seeming. Example: The new mystery was newfangled.
Ingenuity N. The quality of being original and clever Example: He showed a lot of ingenuity in his thinking.
Improvisations N. Things that are created without any preparation Example: He had many improvisations when he was doing the play.
Engineer N. Person w/ scientific training who designs and builds machines, products, or systems Example: He grew up to become an engineer.
Generators N. Machines that produce electricity Example: There were many generators in the building.
Current N. Flow of electricity Example: The generators have a lot of currents
Cunning Adj. Skillful, Clever Example: He was very cunning.
Veered V. Changed Directions Example: He veered in the other way
