| Term | Definition |

| Assimilation | the absorption and integration of people, ideas, or culture into a wider society or culture. |
| reservation | an area of land set aside for occupation by North American Indians or Australian Aboriginal people. |
| Indigenous | inhabiting or existing in a land from the earliest times or from before the arrival of colonists. |
| Conservation | Preventing the wasteful use of a resource which leads to the preservation, protection, or restoration of the natural environment and of wildlife. |
| Negotiate | try to reach an agreement or compromise by discussion with others. |
| Fertile | soil or land containing nutrients that make it capable of producing abundant vegetation or crops. |
| Barter | to exchange goods or services for other goods or services without using money |
| Self-Sufficient | The ability to provide for one's basic needs–like food, shelter, clothing, medicine, etc–without others or outside help |
