Digestive System The body system that breaks down food so the body can use it.
Muscular System The body system that helps the body move and keeps organs in place.
Skeletal System The body system that supports the body and protects organs.
Respiratory System The body system that helps the body breathe and get oxygen.
Circulatory System The body system that moves blood, oxygen, and nutrients through the body.
Nervous System The body system that controls and sends messages throughout the body.
Cells The smallest living parts of all living things.
Tissues Groups of similar cells working together.
Systems / Transport System Groups of organs that work together to carry materials through the body.
Function The job or purpose of something.
Multicellular Made of many cells.
Organism A living thing.
Structures Parts of an organism that help it work.
Functions The jobs that structures or systems do.
Systems Groups of parts that work together.
Heart An organ that pumps blood through the body.
Blood A liquid that carries oxygen, nutrients, and waste.
Vessels Tubes that carry blood through the body.
Trachea A tube that carries air to the lungs.
Lungs Organs that take in oxygen and remove carbon dioxide.
Brain An organ that controls the body and thinking.
Spinal Cord A bundle of nerves that carries messages between the brain and body.
Nerves Pathways that send messages through the body.
Esophagus A tube that moves food from the mouth to the stomach.
Stomach An organ that breaks down food.
Intestines Organs that absorb nutrients and remove waste.
Bones Hard structures that support the body.
Muscles Structures that help the body move.
Oxygen A gas the body needs to live.
Carbon Dioxide A gas the body gets rid of.
Voluntary Muscles Muscles you can control.
Involuntary Muscles Muscles that work without thinking.
Nutrients Substances in food that help the body grow and stay healthy.
Waste Materials the body does not need and gets rid of.
