Concept of Management

Communication An exchange of information where words and gestures are understood in the same way by speaker and listener.
Continuous Ongoing; without stopping.
Controlling The management function that monitors the work effort.
Creative process The process, from idea to production, by which any idea becomes reality.
Directing The management function of providing guidance to workers and work projects to achieve goals.
Human resources People who work to produce goods and services.
Instructing The process of actually giving verbal or written instructions to employees.
Leadership The ability to guide or direct the actions of others in a desired manner.
Management The process of coordinating resources to accomplish an organization's goals.
Motivating The process of getting employees to strive to achieve management's objectives because they want to.
Negative reinforcement The act of terminating or withdrawing something unpleasant when a desired response is given.
Organizing The management function of setting up the way the business's work will be done.
Planning Determining the organization's goals and defining the means for achieving them.
Positive reinforcement The act of encouraging a desired response by giving something pleasant.
Quality standards Established specifications used to measure the degree of excellence of a good or service.
Quantity standards Established specifications used to measure the amount of work produced.
Reward A tangible item that is given in return for someone's service or accomplishment.
Staffing HR activity involving recruiting, interviewing, hiring, orienting, and dealing with job changes.
Strategic planning Long-range planning (three to five years) for the company as a whole.
Supervising Overseeing employees' actions, monitoring their performance, and providing guidance and feedback.
Turnover The rate at which an organization has to replace employees.
