| Scientific Investigation | A systematic approach to answering questions about the natural world using various research methods. |
| Research | The process of gathering information and resources to learn what is already known about a topic before starting an experiment. |
| Observation | Using the senses or instruments to gather information and describe natural phenomena. |
| Inference | A logical interpretation or educated guess based on prior knowledge and observations. |
| Hypothesis | A tentative, testable explanation or prediction for a phenomenon that can be supported or rejected by an experiment |
| Experiment | A procedure carried out under controlled conditions to test a hypothesis and establish cause-and-effect relationships. |
| Independent Variable | The factor that is intentionally changed or manipulated by the scientist to see if it causes an effect. |
| Dependent Variable | The factor that is measured or observed; its value "depends" on changes in the independent variable. |
| Controlled Variable(Constant) | Factors that are kept the same throughout the experiment to ensure the results are only due to the independent variable. |
| Control | A group or standard used for comparison that does not receive the experimental treatment. |
| Data | The collected information, measurements, or evidence obtained during an investigation. |
| Conclusion | A judgment or final opinion based on the analysis of data, stating whether the hypothesis was supported or rejected. |
| Analyze | To study and interpret data to find patterns, trends, and meaning. |
| Scientific Bias | rrors or preconceived assumptions that can distort the interpretation of observations or the design of an experiment. |
| Data trends | Specific patterns or directions identified in data over time or across different experimental groups. |
