Inert not chemically reactive.
Chemical relating to substances and how they change or react.
Alloy a mixture of two or more metals.
Physical relating to properties that can be observed without changing the substance.
Atomic Number the number of protons in an atom’s nucleus.
Atom the smallest particle of an element.
Elements pure substances made of only one type of atom.
Metals elements that conduct heat and electricity and are usually shiny and bendable.
Molecule two or more atoms bonded together.
Copper a metal that conducts electricity well.
Iron a strong metal used in construction and tools.
Tin a metal often used to coat other metals to prevent rust.
Aluminum a lightweight metal used in cans and foil.
Valence Electron an electron in the outer shell of an atom that affects how it reacts.
Radiation energy that travels in waves, such as light or heat.
Meteoroid a small rocky object moving through space.
Hydrocarbon a compound made of hydrogen and carbon atoms.
Comet a space object made of ice and dust that orbits the sun and forms a tail.
