Odyssey 16: Lines 251-275

TermDefinition
And from Ithaca herself twelve, all the best, and with them are Medon the herald and a divine bard and two attendants, skilled in carving meat.
If, being inside, we would meet them all, I fear that you would take vengeance on their violence very bitterly and lamentably, having come.
But you, if you can think of a certain helper, think, who might help us both with a willing mind."
τὸν δ᾽ αὖτε προσέειπε πολύτλας δῖος Ὀδυσσεύς: ‘τοιγὰρ ἐγὼν ἐρέω, σὺ δὲ σύνθεο καί μευ ἄκουσον: And much enduring, godly Odysseus in turn replied to him: "Indeed I shall speak, and you will listen to me and take heed:
τὸν δ᾽ αὖ Τηλέμαχος πεπνυμένος ἀντίον ηὔδα: And consider whether Athena, with her father Zeus, will assist us both, or I will think of another helper." And wise Telemachus in turn spoke to him in reply:
"Good indeed are these two helpers, whom you mention, sitting high in the clouds: who rule both other men and the immortal gods."
And in much enduring, godly Odysseus in turn replied to him: "Indeed that pair will not be distant from the mighty battle cry much longer, when the might of Ares is judged between us and the suitors in my palace.
ἀλλὰ σὺ μὲν νῦν ἔρχευ ἅμ᾽ ἠοῖ φαινομένηφιν οἴκαδε, καὶ μνηστῆρσιν ὑπερφιάλοισιν ὁμίλει: But now you must go homewards together with dawn approaching, and mingle with the overbearing suitors:
But later the swineherd will lead me to the town, resembling a sorry beggar and an old man.
εἰ δέ μ᾽ ἀτιμήσουσι δόμον κάτα, σὸν δὲ φίλον κῆρ τετλάτω ἐν στήθεσσι κακῶς πάσχοντος ἐμεῖο, But if they mistreat me throughout the house, let your dear heart endure in your chest when I suffer badly,
