| Term | Definition |

| File Explorer | Also called the Explorer window. The window where you can access all of the drives, folders, and files on your computer. |
| Toolbar | Located above the address bar. The Toolbar contains common commands. |
| File List | Located in the center of the window. Displays the folders and files for the current location. |
| Navigation Pane | Located at the left side of the window. The Navigation pane includes quick links to the folder structure of your computer. |
| Address Bar | Located at the top of the File Explorer window. The address bar shows the current folder location. |
| Folders | A way of organizing files within the File Explorer window. A folder can contain files or other folders. |
| Subfolders | Folders located within other folders. |
| Cut | Command that removes a selected item from its original location and places it on the Clipboard to be pasted. |
| Copy | Command that places a duplicate of the selected item on the Clipboard to be pasted. Copying an item will leave the original item in its original location. |
| Paste | Command that is used to move an item from the Clipboard to a folder. |
| Delete | Command that removes a file or folder from the computer and places it in the Recycle Bin. |
| Recycle Bin | Place where deleted files are temporarily stored until they are permanently removed from the computer. |
| Home List | Area on the Navigation pane that displays commonly opened folders for quick, one-click access to files on the computer. |
| File Properties | Information about a file including the file location, the size of the file, when it was created, and when it was last modified. |
| Zip | Feature that packages file and folders into a single zipped folder. |
| Downloads Folder | Default folder where files that are downloaded from the Internet are saved. |
