| conclude | decide something based on evidence in the text |

| contrast | tell how two things are different |
| compare | tell how two things are alike |
| cover | to put something over something else; to protect or hide it |
| description structure | how a text is organized to describe something using clear sensory details and attributes |
| evidence (text evidence) | words/parts from the text that prove your answer |
| expresses | shows or tells a feeling, idea, or opinion |
| fable | a short story (often with talking animals) that teaches a lesson |
| illustration | a picture that helps explain the text |
| infer | make a smart guess using text clues + what you know |
| line | (poetry) → one row of words in a poem |
| main idea | (central idea) → what a text/section is mostly about |
| modern | from the present time or recent times; not old-fashioned |
