Province An administrative unit similar to a state
Territory The land adminstered by the national government
Shield a large area of relatively flat land made up of ancient hard rock
Coniferious Describing evergreen trees that produce cones to hold seeds and that have needles instead of leaves
Dedciduous Describing trees that shed their leaves in the autumn
archipelago A group of islands
Tundra A flat, treeless plain with permanently frozen ground.
Fishery An area where fish come to feed in huge numbers
Aboriginal Native peoples who live in North America before Europeans
Metis The child of a French person and native person
Transcontinental Describing something that crosses a continent
Granary a building used to store harvested grain
Metropolitan Area An area that includes a city and it's surrounding suburbs
Bilingual Able to use two languages
Peacekeeping Sending trained members of the military to crisis spots to maintain peace and order
Separatist An individual who wants to break away from control by a dominant group
Autonomy Having independencefrom another country
Acid Rain Rain that contains harmful amounts of posions due to pollution
