Circulatory System

The anatomy of the circulatory system.

QuestionAnswer
Blood vessels These are tubes that carry blood.
Arteries They thick, elastic and muscular walls. They transport blood from organs to heart.
Veins They have thin walls. They transport blood from heart to organs.
Capillares They are smaller and thinner than arteries and veins and they are responsible for cell exchange.
Heart It is a muscular organ that is made up of four chambers, two atria (top) and two ventricles (bottom).
Blood fluid that carries oxygen and nutrients
Oxygen This is the type of gas needed by cells.
Aorta The largest artery in the body
Pulse The rhythmic beating of arteries
Carbon dioxide The waste gas removed from the body
Platelets This helps blood clot
Valve This prevents blood from flowing backward
Septum The wall dividing the heart
Ventricle lower chambers of the heart
Atrium upper chambers of the heart
Lymphatic system It is responsible for collecting the excess fluid that remains between the cells, returning it to the blood.
Lymph It is the liquid that runs through the lymphatic vessels.
Lymphatic capillaries very fine blind vessels distributed throughout all tissues, are responsible for collecting interstitial fluid.
