Change control

APM PMQ Competence 24 terminology

TermDefinition
Change Control A formal process for managing changes to a project’s scope, schedule, or resources to minimise disruption and maintain alignment with objectives.
Change Management Plan A document outlining how changes will be identified, evaluated, and controlled during the project.
Change Request A documented proposal for a change to the project, including details of the modification and its justification.
Impact Assessment Evaluating the potential effects of a proposed change on cost, time, quality, and risk.
Change Log A record of all change requests, their status, and decisions made throughout the project lifecycle.
Configuration Management The process of maintaining consistency of a product’s performance and attributes throughout its life cycle.
Baseline The approved version of a plan or specification that serves as a reference point for measuring progress and changes.
Change Control Board (CCB) A group responsible for reviewing, approving, or rejecting change requests.
Authorisation Formal approval to implement a change after evaluation and decision-making.
Scope Creep Uncontrolled changes or continuous growth in a project’s scope without proper approval.
