| Great Lakes | Five large freshwater lakes (Superior, Michigan, Huron, Erie, Ontario) on the US-Canada border |
| Prairie | Flat or gently rolling grassland, especially in the central United States and Canada |
| USMCA | United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement; a trade deal that replaced NAFTA in 2020 |
| Multicultural | Having many different cultures, ethnic groups, and traditions living together in one society |
| Immigration | Moving permanently to a new country |
| Emigration | Leaving your home country to live permanently somewhere else |
| Indigenous Peoples | The original inhabitants of a region who lived there before colonizers arrived |
| Manifest Destiny | The 19th-century belief that Americans were destined to expand across North America |
| Sun Belt | The southern region of the US known for warm weather and population growth |
| Rust Belt | The northeastern and midwestern US region where manufacturing declined, leaving abandoned factories |
