Minimize opportunitiesfor fraud, and inspect your data forsigns of fraud
Consider using an already existing survey instrument that has been subjected to tests of validity and reliability

It is always a good idea to pilot your survey or interview before formally collecting data
Carefully consider the purposes for which you might use closed-ended and open-ended items
You must consider the analyses that you will perform as you choose the items.
When constructing a new instrument, be sure to subject it to tests of validity and reliability.
Pilot studies are a critical part of constructing a new instrument
If you are conducting an interview, make sure your interviewers are trained and have practiced the interview multiple times
