QuestionAnswer
What is a sensory neuron? Carry information from body's sense receptors to the central nervous system. Goes from all over the body to the brain.
What is an interneuron? Send messages really quickly. Can send messages from sensory neurons to motor neurons & more without involving the brain, which makes reacting faster.
What is a motor neuron? Messages that tell our body how to move. Goes from brain to all over the body.
What does the frontal lobe do? It is responsible for thinking, some memory, planning, and understanding, in Wernicke's Area.
What does the temporal lobe do? Processed auditory information,
What are the parts of the hindbrain? Medulla, cerebellum, reticular formation, and pons.
What does the medulla do? Controls breathing, heartbeat, swallowing, and other reflexes.
What does pons do? Balance, hearing, and regulating muscles and internal organs.
What does the cerebellum do? Acts like a mini brain, associating with memory, learning, and muscle movements/coordination.
What does the reticular formation do? network of fibers and cells that controls attention, muscle tone, and cardiac reflex.
What are the parts of the forebrain? THE LITTLE HAIRY ALLIGATOR HAS COLORFUL CANDY: thalamus, limbic system, hypothalamus, amygdala, hippocampus, cerebral cortex, corpus collosum.
What are the parts of the Limbic system? thalamus, hippocampus, amygdala
What does the thalamus do? links upper and lower centers of brain.
What does the hypothalamus do? Master controller of emotions.
What does the corpus collosum do? Neural fibers that carry messages to left and right side of brain.
What does the amygdala do? Focus on conscious experiences
What does the cerebral cortex do? influences fear and aggression.
