| Culture | Behaviors, ideas, and attitudes shared by a large group of people. |
| Social representation | Socially shared beliefs, widely held ideas and values. This includes assumptions also. |
| Hindsight Bias | Tendency to exaggerate after learning an outcome. One's ability to have foreseen how something turned out. |
| Theory | Intergrated set of principles that explain and predict behaviors |
| Hypothesis | Testable proposition between two events. They must be testable, practical, and have a direction to research. |
| Field research | Naturally done research, outside of lab. |
| Correlational research | Study between relationships not cause and effect. |
| Experimental design | Having a manipulated variable and a independant and dependant variable. |
| Random Sample | Survey where everyone in the population has a fair chance of being chosen |
| Framing | The way a question or an issue is posed. |
| Random Assignment | The process of assigning participants to the conditions of an experiment such that all persons have the same chance of being given the condition. |
| Mundane realism | Degree to which an experiment is superfically similar to everyday situations. |
| Experimental realism | Degree to which participants are actively engaged |
| Deception | Effect where participants are mislead about study methods. |
| Demand characteristics | Cues in experiment that tell participants behavior is expected |
