Drug Administrations
| Term | Definition |

| Internal administration | Drugs you take in through the mouth, nose, or ear |
| Inhalation | taking drugs in through the respiratory tract (lungs) |
| Intradermal | Taking drugs through the skin, needles |
| intramuscular | medication is injected into muscle tissues directly |
| intranasal | inducing a medication into your nose to your head and upper respiratory tract |
| intraspinal | injection into the spinal cord |
| intravenous | injection into the vein |
| oral | medication you swallow or drink(directed to stomach) |
| rectal | medication induced through the rectum (absorbed through rectum lining) |
| Sublingual/Buccal | using dis solvable tablets under the tongue, cheek |
| External Administrations | Medications administered externally like an ointment |
| Inunctions | Medication that is rubbed into the skin |
| ointments | medication that is rubbed onto the skin (lotion/oil) |
| Pastes | ointments with nonfat base |
| Plasters | Thicker than ointments spread on cloth or skin (white) |
| transdermal patches | adhesive bandage that slowly releases medication |
| solutions | liquid rubefaciets (eye drops/Ear drops) |
