What is ventilation? bringing air in
Upper respiratory system Nose/Mouth, Pharynx, larynx, & Epiglottis
What does the nose do? filter warm air enters and exits
What is the pharynx? the throat
What is the larynx? voice box
What does the epiglottis do? Protect Trachea
Lower respiratory system Trachea, Bronchi, Bronchioles, Alveoli, & Lungs
What are alveoli? air sacs where gas exchange occurs
What are the lungs divided into? lobes
What surrounds the Lungs? The pleura
Supporting structures Ribs & Diaphragm
What do the ribs do? Protect center
What does the Diaphragm do? Separates thoracic cavity from peritoneal cavity
