Detailing Brainpathways

TermDefinition
Optic Nerve* A cranial nerve which carries the axons of retinal ganglion cells.
Optic Chiasm The location at the base of the brain where the optic nerves meet, and the nasal halves of the retinas cross so each hemisphere receives input from both eye.
Lateral Geniculate Nucleus (LGN) The pair of nuclei that protrude from the thalamus, which receive retinal ganglion cell fibers, and relay information to the visual cortex.
