travesty A distorted or absurd imitation; a mockery.
banish To send someone away as punishment; to expel or get rid of.
taciturn Habitually quiet and reserved; saying little.
vortex A whirling mass of fluid or air; metaphorically, a situation full of turbulence or chaos.
castigate To criticize or punish someone severely.
pragmatic Dealing with things sensibly and practically rather than theoretically.
