Circuits

QuestionAnswer
battery The power source in an electrical circuit
circuit A complete path around which electricity can flow.
wire A thin, flexible conductor of electricity.
current The flow of electricity in a circuit
electrical conductivity The ability of a material to allow electrical energy to pass through
fuse A device that shuts off power to an electrical circuit when there is too much current.
output device Could be a light bulb, buzzer, motor, or more
switch Controls the flow of electricity.
electrical current Controls the flow of electricity
open circuit Also called "broken" circuits. Openings and gaps can be caused by a switch, broken wire, poor connection
closed circuit Also known as "working" circuits. Creates a loop for current to flow.
