Solutions Vocabulary
All vocabulary for our unit about aqueous solutions.

| Aqueous Solution | A homogenous mixture containing one or more substances (solutes) dissolved in water (a solvent) |
| Solute | A substance that is dissolved by a solvent |
| Dissolve | To become or cause to become incorporated into a solvent so as to form a solution |
| Solvent | A substance that dissolves a solute |
| Solution | A mixture that has a uniform composition; also known as a homogeneous solution |
| Soluble | Able to dissolve in a solvent |
| Insoluble | Unable to dissolve in a solvent |
| Concentration | The measure of the amount of solute that has been dissolved in a given amount of solvent to create a solution |
| Dilution | The process whereby the concentration of solute in a solution is decreased by increasing the amount of solvent |
| Concentrated | Containing a large amount of solute in relation to the amount of solvent |
| Dilute | Containing a small amount of solute in relation to the amount of solvent |
| Unsaturated | Able to dissolve more solute |
| Saturated | Unable to dissolve more solute |
