| Energy Transfer | The movement of energy from one object to another. |
| Equal Forces | Forces that act together on an object without changing its motion. |
| Friction | A force between surfaces that slows objects or stops them from moving. |
| Gravity | A noncontact force that pulls objects. |
| Unequal Forces | Forces that cause an object to start or stop moving. |
| Interaction | To have contact with something through touch or actions. |
| Test | To find out the nature or quality of something. |
| Force | a push or pull acting on an object. |
| Mass | a measure of the amount of matter. |
| Motion | a change in position |
| Position | - where an object is located. |
| Pull | a force exerted between two objects that causes a change in motion toward the object exerting the pulling force |
| Push | a force between two objects that may cause a change in motion away from the object exerting the pushing force |
| Repel | to push something away or force it apart |
| Control | Variable that does not change |
| Dependent Variable | the factor that you measure or observe in an experiment |
| Variable | any factor, condition, or characteristic that can be changed, controlled, or measured in a scientific investigation |
| Independent Variable | the single factor that the scientist changes or manipulates on purpose to see what effect it has |
| System | a regularly interacting or interdependent group of items or components forming a unified whole |
| Pattern | a repeating sequence, regular arrangement, or recurring trend in data, nature, or events used to explain scientific phenomena and make predictions |
| Experimental Investigation | a test or experiment with identified variables where students change one variable to see how another variable responds, while keeping other conditions the same |
