What is Life?

Cells Level of organization that is the most basic unit of life (these are made of organelles)
Tissues Level of organization that made by a group of cells with a common purpose.
Organs Level of organization that is created when groups of tissues come together to do a specific job
Organ system Level of organization that is created by organs working together
Organism Level of organization that is created when an groups of cells, tissues and organs come together
Population Level of organization that is defined by the members of a single type of organism living in a certain area.
Community Level of organization that is all living things in a given area.
Ecosystem Level of organization that is all the living and non-living elements in a given area.
Biosphere All the communities on Earth and the environments with which they interact
Organelle A tiny cell structure that carries out a specific job within the cell
Response any behavior of a living organism resulting form a stimulus
Stimulus anything that causes a reaction or change in an organism or any part of an organism
Metabolism All of the chemical reactions that occur within an organism
Homeostasis The maintenance of stable internal conditions in a changing environment
asexual reproduction One parent producing offspring identical to itself
sexual reproduction two parents producing offspring that share the traits of both parents
Unicellular Made of a single cell
Multicellular Made up of more than one cell.
Abiotic Factors nonliving parts of an ecosystem
Biotic Factors living parts of an ecosystem
Autotroph / Producer An organism that makes its own food
Heterotroph/Consumer Organisms that must eat other organisms for energy
