Group/Family a vertical column on the periodic table
Cation a positive ion
Atom smallest part of matter
Electron negatively charged subatomic particle, lives outside the nucleus
Nucleus the center of the atom
Metal an element that is shiny, malleable, good conductor or electricity. Located to the left of the zig-zag line
Isotope Atoms of the SAME element that have different number of NEUTRONS
Atomic Mass the number of protons + neutrons in an atom's nucleus, usually located at the bottom of the element tile
Electron Shells the area around the nucleus where electrons are found
Element atoms of 1 type
