Properties of Matter

QuestionAnswer
Matter Anything that has mass and volume. It takes up space. 
Mass The amount of matter in an object.
Volume The amount of space an object takes up.
Measurable Something that can be measured in units such as length, volume, density and mass.
Observable Something that is observed with the 5 senses and can NOT be measured.
Boiling Point Water boils at 100* Celsius/212* Fahrenheit
Freezing Point- Water freezes at 0* Celsius/32* Fahrenheit
Melting Point- The material changes from a solid to a liquid. Temperature of a object increases to melt. 
Celsius The unit used to measure temperature.
Fahrenheit The unit used to measure temperature. This one if used in the United States. 
Solid A state of matter in that always keeps its own shape and has tightly packed particles.
Liquid A state of matter that flows, takes the shape of the container it is in, and has close particles that are loosely arranged.
Gas A state of matter that fills the space it is in and has particles moving in all different directions very far apart.
Condensation When gas turns into a liquid.
Sublimation When a solid turns into a gas.
Freezing When a liquid turns into a solid.
Melting When a solid turns into liquid.
Deposition When a gas becomes a solid.
Evaporation When a liquid becomes a gas.
