QuestionAnswer
Adenoids are a collection of lymph tissue in the nasopharynx. They are also called tonsils.
apex of the lung is the uppermost portion of the lung.
Apical means pertaining to the apex.
base of the lung is the lower portion of the lung.
Bronchioles are the smallest branches of the bronchi.
bronchus or bronchi branch from the trachea and are the air tubes that go into the lung. They act as a passageway into the air spaces of the lung.
diaphragm is the muscle separating the chest and the abdomen.
epiglottis is the lid-like piece of cartilage that covers the larynx.
Inhalation is breathing in
exhalation is breathing out.
larynx is the voice box.
lobes of the lungs are the divisions of the lungs.
mediastinum is the region between the lungs in the chest cavity. It contains the trachea, heart, aorta, esophagus and bronchial tubes.
Paranasal sinuses are air-containing cavities in the bones near the nose.
trachea is the windpipe.
