Investigating Physical Properties of Matter

| Conductor | A substance or object that allows energy to flow through it. |
| Gas | A state of matter in which the substance expands to take both the shape and volume of its container. |
| Insulator | A substance or object that does not allow energy to flow through it easily. |
| Liquid | A state of matter in which the substance takes the shape of the container and has an unchanged volume when poured from one container to another. |
| Magnetism | an attracting or repelling force that causes a magnetic material to move. |
| Mass | A measure of the amount of matter in a sample. |
| Matter | Anything that has mass and takes up space. |
| Physical property | Properties of matter that can be observed, measured, or changed without changing the matter itself. |
| Physical State | The form that matter is existing in. |
| Relative density | The ability of a material (not an object) to sink or float. |
| Solid | A state of matter in which the substance has a set shape and size. |
| Solubility | The ability of substance to dissolve in another substance, such as sugar dissolving in water. |
| Volume | The amount of space that a substance or object takes up. |
| Repel | The drive something back or away. |
