arrhythmias are abnormal heart rhythms
flutter is a rapid but regular contraction of atria or ventricles
fibrillation is random, irregular, and very rapid contractions of the heart. In order to restore normal heart rhythm, an electrical device called a defibrillator is applied to the chest
congenital heart diseases are abnormalities in the heart at birth
congestive heart failure is when the heart is unable to pump its required amount of blood
pulmonary edema is when blood accumulates in the lungs
coronary artery disease is disease of the arteries surrounding the heart
hypertensive heart disease is when high blood pressure is affecting the heart
murmur is an extra heart sound that is heard between normal beats
pericarditis is inflammation of the membrane surrounding the heart
aneurysm is a ballooning out of a small area of an artery caused by weakness
varicose veins are abnormally swollen and twisted veins that usually occur in the legs
