serum calcium (Ca) is the measurement of the amount of calcium in blood (serum)
serum phosphorus is the measurement of the amount of phosphorus in a sample of serum
Arthrocentesis is the surgical puncture of the joint space with a needle. Synovial fluid is removed for analysis
Arthrography is an x-ray examination of a joint after contrast media has been injected into the joint
Arthroscopy is a visual examination of the inside of a joint with an endoscope. Surgical instruments can be passed through the arthroscope to remove tissue and repair the joint.
bone scan is a nuclear medicine study where a radioactive phosphate substance is injected intravenously and the substance is absorbed by bone which is scanned for tumors, infection and inflammation.
Electromyography is an examination where the strength of muscle contractions as a result of electrical stimulation is measured.
