calcane/o means calcaneus, the heel bone
carp/o means carpals which are the bones of the wrist
clavicul/o means clavicle, which is the collar bone
cost/o means rib. There are true, false and floating ribs
femor/o means femur which is the thigh bone and the largest bone in the body
fibul/o means fibula which is the smaller lower leg bone
humer/o means humerus which is the upper arm bone
malleol/o means malleolus which are the processes on each side of the ankle
maxill/o means maxilla or upper jaw
meta means beyond
metacarp/o means metacarpals, literally beyond the carpals bones, which are hand bones
metatars/o means metatarsals, literally beyond the tarsal bones, which are foot bones
patell/a means patella, which is the kneecap
pelv/i is the pelvis or hip bones
radi/o means radius which is the lower arm bone on the thumb side and it makes up part of the forearm
uln/o means ulna and it is the other bone that makes up the forearm
scapul/o means scapula which is the shoulder bone on your upper back
stern/o means sternum which is the breast bone
tars/o means tarsals which are the bones of the ankle
tibi/o means tibia which is the larger lower leg bone that is also designated as the shin bone
