What is the purpose of Assessments? Summarize Learning, Gather Evidence, Generate Data
Define "Assessment Types" Main Goal. For example measuring or summarizing. {Shelf with Buckets}
Define "Assessment Strategies" Kind of Assessment. Examples: Criterion Based, Norm Referenced, etc. {Bucket}
Define "Assessment Methods" How the assessment will be given. Examples: Project Based, Portfolio, Multiple Choice. {Object inside bucket}
What is a "Diagnostic Assessment?" This is a "Pre Assessment" given before a course to check current levels of understanding.
What is a "Formative Assessment?" These are checks of understanding given throughout a course. For example a "pop quiz" or a course long collection of projects in a portfolio. These are meant to track learner progress.
What is a "Summative Assessment?" This is a "Post Assessment" given after a course to check if the learner successfully learned the information or skill.
Define Assessment Strategy: Traditional Rote memorization with single correct answers. Example: Multiple Choice Assessment
Define Assessment Strategy: Ipsative Measuring a learners progress over time. Learner against self.
Define Assessment Strategy: Norm Referenced Comparing a learners performance against peers. Bell Curve.
Define Assessment Strategy: Criterion Based Compare a Learners performance against a predetermined standard.
Define Assessment Strategy: Standard Based A type of "Criterion Based Assessment" Broad. Example: State Educational Standards.
Define Assessment Strategy: Competency Based A type of "Criterion Based Assessment" Checks a learners ability to apply knowledge and skills
Define "Direct Assessment Method" Objective Measurable Assessments. Such as: Tests, Quizzes, and Projects.
Define "Indirect Assessment Method" Passive Information. Such as: LMS Analytics, Observation, Surveys, and Exit Interviews.
