Drugs for seizures

| Febrile seizure | rapid increase in body temperature |
| Eclampsia | is a severe hypertensive disorder of pregnancy, characterized by seizures, coma, and perinatal mortality. |
| Partial (Focal) or generalized seizures | starts on one side of the brain and travels a short distance before stopping |
| gamma- aminobutyric acid (GABA) | primary inhibitory transmitter in the brain |
| Status epilepticus | condition characterized by repeated seizures or one prolonged seizure attack that continues for at least 30 minutes |
| absence seizures | seizure with a loss or reduction of normal activity, including staring and transiet loss of responsiveness |
| myoclonic seizure | characterized by brief, sudden, contractions of a group of muscles |
