What is the function of the mitochondria in a cell? To produce ATP through cellular respiration.
Describe the difference between mitosis and meiosis. Mitosis produces two genetically identical diploid cells for growth and repair. Meiosis produces four genetically diverse haploid cells for sexual reproduction.
What are the four main types of biomolecules essential for life? Carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids.
How does negative feedback help maintain homeostasis? It reverses a change in a controlled condition to bring the body back to set point.
What is the sliding filament theory in muscle contraction? It explains how actin and myosin filaments slide past each other to shorten muscle fibers during contraction.
Which skeletal tissue cell is responsible for breaking down bone? Osteoclasts.
