Molecule two or more atoms joined together chemically
Subscript the number written after an element’s symbol in a chemical formula that indicates the number of atoms of a specific element
Coefficient the number in front of an element or compound that indicates the number of molecules in a chemical formula
Physical Properties characteristics that are observed or measured without changing the identity of a substance
Physical Change the type of change in which the form of matter is altered, but one substance is not transformed into another
Chemical Properties characteristics that can only be determined by changing the identity of a substance
Chemical Change the type of change that results in the formation of new chemical substances
Solute the substance being dissolved in another substance
Solvent the substance doing the dissolving
Concentration the amount of solute present in a given amount of solution
Mass/Volume the ratio of the mass of the solute to the volume of the solution
Moles/Volume expresses the number of moles per solute per unit volume of the solution
Percentage represents the proportion of solute in the solution
Dilution the process of reducing concentration of a solution by adding more solvent
Dissolution the process by which a solute dissolves into a solvent and forms a solution
Solubility the maximum concentration of a solute that can dissolve in a solvent at a given temperature
Temperature degree of heat or cold measured by a thermometer
Surface Area the rate at which a solute dissolves depends on the size of the solute particles

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
