| Mores | Norms with great moral significance. Morality is the key word for mores. |
| Latent functions | The unintended consequences of an aspect of society. Learning teamwork at school. |
| Obligation | Behavior expected from you toward other people. Opposite of right. |
| Demographics | Statics about a population's characteristics, age,sex, income, etc. |
| Manifest functions | The recognized and intended consequences of an aspect of society. Learning math at school. |
| Self concept | An image of yourself having identity that is separate from others. |
| Socialization | The process of learning to participate in group life. |
| Correlation | A scientific measure of how things relate to one another. |
| Age stratification | The unequal distribution of resources based on age. |
| Deviance | That departs from societal norms. |
| Reference group | Groups we use for self evaluation and formation of beliefs and values. We don’t need to be part of these groups to still use them. If I like a rock star, but am not one myself, I have used a rock band as a reference group to form my own values. |
