Non-science vocab from NYS ESS DCIs

resource A stock or supply of materials, assets, or other items that can be drawn on to function effectively.
community A group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common.
environment The surroundings or conditions in which a person, animal, or plant lives or operates.
society The aggregate of people living together in a more or less ordered community.
technology The application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes.
impact The action of one object coming forcibly into contact with another.
development The process of developing or being developed.
regulation A rule or directive made and maintained by an authority.
conservation The action of conserving something, in particular.
efficiency The state or quality of being efficient in performance or output.
migration Movement from one part of something to another.
population All the inhabitants of a particular area or space.
distribution The action of sharing something out among a number of recipients.
sustainability The ability to be maintained at a certain rate or level.
biodiversity The variety of plant and animal life in the world or in a particular habitat.
