| what is selective perception? | when labels lead us to see certain things but blind us to other things |

| what is the conflict theory / group conflict theory? | the idea that society is composed of groups / social categories that engage in fierce competition over scarce resources, and once a group is at the top of the social ladder they want to stay up there. |
