Investigating Mixtures and Force and Motion

TermDefinition
Conservation of Matter the total amount of matter stays the same, even when two types of matter are mixed together
Mixture a combination of two or more substances that can be separated in some physical way
Particle small pieces of a material
Equal forces two or more forces that act on an object in different directions with the same size strength; result in no change in position, direction, or motion
Force a push or pull that can change the position or motion of an object / material
Friction a force that acts in the opposite direction to movement
Gravity the force that pulls objects toward each other
Magnetism an attracting or repelling force that causes a magnetic material to move
Mechanical energy energy of motion
Unequal forces forces that are acting on an object in different directions and are not the same strength; result in a change in position, direction, or motion
